Independent MPs Now!

If David Batt and Tom Smith truly cared about Bundaberg, they would quit their respective political parties and sit as independents in the state and federal parliaments.

The Australian Labor Party and the Liberal National Party do not stand for Bundaberg, but rather for the interests of the rich and powerful.

Bundaberg needs truly representative leaders who put aside their ambitions, such as being raised to cabinet, and truly act in the best interest of Bundaberg voters.

This would mean becoming independent MPs representing only the interests of their electorates.

Bundaberg is facing a series of cascading socioeconomic problems from a lack of affordable housing and homelessness to environmental degradation.

We need real leaders who will work towards a true worker’s democracy in the Bundaberg region.

Not so-called leaders who stand for the interest of party bosses and the wealthy.

We have enough politicians who are trying to climb the greasy pole, we need compassionate leaders who will stand up for Bundaberg and the interest of its people.

David Batt and Tom Smith should immediately resign from their respective parties and become community-based independents.

I would encourage anyone reading this to contact each of these men and encourage them to do just that.
