Uni’s Pride in Central Queensland

CQUniversity does not operate under its original name of Central Queensland University.

Is this because it is ashamed of being associated with Central Queensland?

The university should wear its Central Queensland origins with pride!

It should promote its connection to our beautiful region in everything that it does.

Central Queensland, from Rockhampton to Bundaberg, is one of the jewels in the crown of Queensland and Australia.

Our region produces sugar, beef and other agricultural products that feed the nation and the world.

It is a prime tourist hotspot with an ample supply of backpackers, foreign visitors and Australian tourists.

What’s not to be proud of?

CQU should immediately desist from using the acronym “CQ” in place of “Central Queensland”.

I started my academic career at CQU, and I owe its staff a lot for their care, guidance and academic rigour.

Everyone should be proud of being from Bundaberg and the university should rectify its lack of pride by reverting to Central Queensland University instead of CQUniversity.

I would encourage everyone who reads this to contact to CQU or comment on their social media demanding that this be rectified.

Bundaberg, and our friends in Rockhampton, deserves better!
