Reckless Error

The band started because the guys were putting together a Movember cover band called “Mo Rockers” and they twisted Jimmy’s arm to do some songs with them and be the lead singer.

From there things just naturally progressed into writing songs. A couple of the band members were really interested in writing original stuff and wanted to get out into the pub scene.

They were writing good music and a few of them kept doing that instead of cover songs.

Then they got Donovan, a new drummer, and a heavy hitting metal drummer at that.

The latest edition is Rory on base, and he was actually a guitar student of one of the band members.

Coming up with the name was fun, the guys were chucking heaps of different names in a band chatgroup until they found something they all liked.

Jimmy jokes “we all have plenty of reckless errors in our life”.

In terms of song writing Jimmy says, “So we’ve done it in a few different ways, early days one of us would come through with an idea, like a melody or some kind of hook and then the guys would be able to play something that would fit”.

“Sometimes I would do a bit of vocal guitaring because I wasn’t very fluent on guitar back then. But the guys could always figure out the right kind of thing to chuck on there”.

“Adrian or Tim would have a very good guitar idea, and we’d just build on it”.

“Try and paint a picture in your mind with words so people can visualise the picture and understand the song and maybe relate to it”.

“Over the years I’ve become very comfortable working with the other band members”.

“We have so many songs that might not even see the light of day”.

Jimmy says his favourite thing is just the comradery of working with the other band members.

He said, “You can call it musical therapy, our weekly jam is probably my favourite part of being in the band, performing live is amazing, we do most of our stuff through East Coast Alternative in a couple of different venues, mainly the Old Bundy Tavern and the Sugarland Tavern”.

“The Sugarland Tavern is normally the acoustic set, which is a totally different feel again, which gets you a little bit close and personal with the song”.

Jimmy finishes by saying, “I’m very thankful to be able to work with such a high calibre of humans who are so talented at what they do. I feel blessed”.
